Hello and welcome! I am so happy you are here! Nowadays I mostly go by Aly, short for Alysia. You can use either one. I am recently married (August 2016) to a lovely man, Nick, we have two precious dogs together and live in the heart of the Lone Star State. Austin, TX!
We love exploring new local restaurants, hiking around the many trails Austin has to offer and more than anything spending nights in together cooking up a hearty meal and smashing buttons on the X-box. I have an affinity for cooking and I believe Nick has an affinity for doing dishes, wink…wink. Well, maybe not an affinity, but he is definitely my side-kick and partner in crime.
As for myself I teach pre-school to a lovely class of rambunctious three-year-olds. I’ll cook with them in the classroom simple recipes such as banana nut bread or mashed potatoes. In my own kitchen I love anything pasta and cheese and could eat chips and salsa for dessert. My inspiration comes from leftovers in my own pantry and fridge, have that be leftover cuts of meat, browning fruit or a can of chipotle peppers in the back of my pantry. I am determined to use every ingredient I have in my kitchen. This enables me to come up with new ideas and combinations to highlight a particular ingredient and make it sing.
This blog is all about celebrating real food and making it fresh and simple. It’s about tackling fears of apple pie that turned to apple sauce or burning caramel for the fourth time, but telling yourself you’ll try again.
This blog is about bringing delicious food to the table. From my table to yours.
